Top shows for Valentine’s Day

Need inspiration for Valentine’s Day? If you’re looking to treat your partner (or even your best friend, if you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day), then a trip to the stage makes the perfect present.

Following the critical success of The Red Shoes in 2017, New Adventures return to the Centre this spring with Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, bringing an evocative love story, lavish costumes and spectacular sets to our stage.

Set in war-torn London during the Second World War, this production is a touching interpretation of the most famous of fairy tales.

One night, Cinderella experiences the wonder of true love as she meets a young RAF pilot, only to be parted by the tragedies of the Blitz.

Boasting a soaring score by Prokofiev, this is a “gripping theatrical spectacle” (The Guardian), which “seduces the senses and touches the heart” (San Francisco Observer), making it the perfect gift for your Valentine.

The Sleeping Beauty

How about some ballet for your beloved?

Get lost in movement with this timeless tale of a princess, a curse and a spindle, which is transformed into one of the grandest ballets ever created, with a classical score by Tchaikovsky.

With live music from the acclaimed Royal Ballet Sinfonia, this dazzling performance hailed as “spectacular” by The Times, is a perfect choice for those looking for some magic with their loved one

As much as we all love traditional fairy tales, everyone’s favourite fairy tale-gone-wrong is making a stop at the Centre this spring.

Bringing plenty of laughs and recognisable characters, go on a journey with the most loveable musical misfits, and join Shrek and Donkey as they try to save the day and rescue a sassy Princess Fiona.

For a comical tale of friendship, adventure and romance, Shrek the Musical promises to be “the most fun you’ll ever have” (Daily Mirror) with your Valentine.
