A very merry Wales Millennium Centre gift guide

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (albeit slightly stressful, if you’ve not started your Christmas shopping). With the twinkle of fairy lights and the earthy smell of pine trees, it’s hard to resist the magic of the festive season.

To make it as stress-free as possible we’ve come up with a stellar selection of gifts for everyone in your life. The best part? Everything in this list is easy to wrap, so don’t worry about having to fight with the sticky tape.

For the Take That fan in your life…

…Tickets to see The Band (9-20 Jan)

We never forget our first boyband crush, and the fastest-selling musical brought to the stage by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow is coming to the Centre in January.

A delightful combination of comedy, nostalgia, and friendship, The Band follows a group of friends who reunite after 25 years to meet the boyband who saw them through the growing pains of young adulthood. A gift for your best girlfriends, this could be the perfect girls’ night out to see in the New Year, so don’t miss out on tickets.

For the one who loves Strictly on their Saturday night…

…tickets to Brendan Cole

Get your ballroom face ready, Brendan Cole is getting ready for a return to the Centre with his new show, All Night Long, on 4 March. The perfect gift for the avid Strictly Come Dancing viewer, the evening will feature Brendan and his curated selection of championship dancers as they get the audience fired up with live music, charm and stunning special effects.

For those who wish life was a cabaret…

comedy and cocktails at ffresh

With the turn of the spring season in March comes a brand-new line up of live entertainment, including live music, spoken word, cabaret and comedy in ffresh. With divas, dancers and innovative new bands preparing for the ffresh spotlight, there’s something for everybody (and some killer cocktails, if you’re feeling thirsty).

For the joker in your life…

…tickets to a comedy classic

Even the funniest people need a little uplifting during the long winter season, so why not treat them to a night filled with what they love most? Comedy. We all know that laughter is the best medicine. A comedy riot, Spamalot brings the best of Monty Python and the Holy Grail to the stage. Join the mission to find the elusive Holy Grail, and get tickets for your funniest friend.

For those who love a happy ending…

…love stories that stand the test of time

The art of movement is something to be admired, and a trip to the ballet can be a breath-taking experience.

An enchanting performance of a beloved fairy-tale, many of us are familiar with the tale of a princess, a spindle, and true love’s kiss. Coming to the Centre 14-17 March, Sleeping Beauty is a timeless love story presented in the visual glory of dance. Called “The grandest ballet in the repertory” by The Guardian, Birmingham Royal Ballet’s take on a classic fairy-tale is sure to dazzle and delight audiences.

If you’re a lover of dance, Matthew Bourne’s production of Cinderella will also grace the stage of the Donald Gordon Theatre from 3-7 April. A magical interpretation of a popular love story, this production is a thrilling romance set in the war-torn London of the Second World War.

For the whole family…

a loveable ogre

It can be hard to find a gift that’s universally liked, or suitable for everyone. Why not give the entire family something to look forward to with a trip to the theatre that promises to leave them grinning from ear to ear?

Bringing everyone’s favourite fairytale turned upside down to the stage, Shrek the Musical arrives at the Centre from 10-22 April. With the sassy Princess Fiona, Donkey as the comical steed, and the unlikely heroics of Shrek, this is a production packed with humour, adventure and a healthy dose of love. There’s also a fire breathing dragon, if that’s your thing.

For the tricky one…

gift vouchers

Every year, there’s at least one person on our list that’s a bit hard to buy for. Chances are they already buy themselves everything they need, or you might not be sure what their taste really is. A gift certificate for the Centre could be an easy option, especially if you need to buy in a hurry. Gift certificates can be used across the Centre in exchange for tickets, a meal in ffresh, or towards a Promise membership.
