In our series of blogs where we profile some of the many talented members of staff we have here at the Centre, we delve deeper into the world of Serena Grainger, our Customer Experience Manager.
Serena is responsible for our front of house team, volunteers programme and making sure our customers and visitors get the best experience possible.
My proudest achievement is….all the amazing large scale events we have put on and watching how all teams come together to make it happen. Outside of work, I’m proud of leaving my home in Devon when I was 18 to make a life for myself in Cardiff and never looking back!
I love the Centre, because… every day is different and I love the varied work and activity I get to be part of.
If not in Cardiff, I would live in…. New York, I love it!
The person who inspired me to work in the arts is…not a person! I had never really got involved in the arts before working at the Centre, so essentially the Centre got me inspired to work in the arts.
The one piece of advice I’d give to people who want to work in the arts is…. be open to exploring lots of different things and don’t judge it until you have seen it.
If I could go back in time for one decade, it would be… the eighties. Simply for the fact I love cheesy music!
As a teenager I was totally into…. boybands. I am not going to lie, I was obsessed!
The last song I listened to was… Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran
The last book I read was… I can’t actually remember but the last book I remember which I have recommended a lot was ‘Me Before You’. The book was amazing.
The fictional character I’d be friends with in real life is… Olivia Pope from Scandal. I love how she just gets things done!
The best live performance I have seen is… Mary Poppins here at the Centre. I was just in awe of it.
My cocktail of choice is a… Cosmopolitan. Simply a classic.
I’m currently binge watching… I have just finished binge watching the Good Wife. It’s very good!
