June is here, and with it, the UEFA cup and all its hustle and bustle! It’s an exciting time for us at the Centre with all the football excitement spreading throughout Cardiff Bay. We’re even more excited to be the official home for the Champions League Gallery! Don’t miss your chance to pop in and have a look at some of the amazing artwork we’ve got on display celebrating our city’s involvement in this global event.
But this isn’t the only noteworthy thing happening in the Bay during June.
We have scored a number of high-profile shows, from the world of literature, right through to the beloved songs of Disney for you to reminisce about.
So with artwork, theatre, and sport right here in the Bay– it’s a hat trick not to be missed!
RATS (Rose Against The System) will be at the Centre between the 2-3 June, and what better place to have them scratching about than in our Roof Void?
The tale follows a young rat as she begins her family’s traditional journey into adulthood, and learns a few things along the way. On her travels she meets another group of young rats, who show her the consequences of turning your back on the status quo.
This unique look at adolescence and coming of age, is brought to the stage by a local team of Butetown artists who draw on the use of modern dance, and dark humour for their exciting tale.
What good is sitting along in your room? Yes it’s that time of the month again!
Everyone’s favourite all singing night will be making its way back to our ffresh stage during June for a big dose of Hello Cabaret.
If you’re a show tune lover looking for a perfect Saturday night out, then look no further. The evening is renowned across Wales having developed a loyal following of guests who just can’t get enough.
And with the ffresh bar offering up an unmissable food and cocktail menu, why would you need to go anywhere else? Come and enjoy a tipple or two and sing along to some of Wales’ most talented musical show performers on 3 June.
What do you get when you cross an anti-comedian with politics? Ed Aczel on tour.
Once a runner up at the BBC New Comedy Awards, Ed will be performing his second (anti) comedy tour in ffresh on 9 June. With the likes of Jimmy Carr referring to him as “the funniest thing on the Fringe”, this isn’t one you’ll want to miss out on.
Aczel’s performance of self-doubt in his own comedic value will have you rolling around laughing, as he discusses extremely relevant topics including modern politics and its prevalence (or lack of) in today’s society.
Calling all you Disney lovers – this one’s for you!
One Night Only is a magical trio, with a nostalgic twist. Their repertoire of classic Disney tunes and musical favourites will transport you right back to your childhood and soon have you singing along to all those old favourites.
Enjoy the sophisticated sounds of soprano Clair Delaney, West End’s Chris Hughes and pianist George Harrington as they perform their own retouched versions of those all-time classics. And if that’s not enough to make you feel all Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, there will be a special guest performance by female vocalists Sopranome, to add an extra bit of sparkle to the night.
One Night Only will be with us for… well, one night only on 10 June.
Charlotte Bronte’s all time literary classic, Jane Eyre, will be back on our stage starting 27 June.
The theatre adaptation of the classic novel follows a young woman’s coming of age, as she struggles with maturing, sexuality, love, and feminism.
Poverty to punishment, heart-breaking loss to fortuitous gain, director Sally Cookson has pieced together a breathtaking production portraying female empowerment from one strong women, to the next.
After a critically acclaimed season at the National Theatre, Jane Eyre will be delighting audiences at the Centre this month.
